Two Faeries [Video] - backdated to February 3rd
[The video feed starts out looking up at Laguna... and upside-down. She finishes wiping off the glass in her hand and flips the rag onto her shoulder before noticing her Steamgear seems to be a bit askew.]
Whoops! Hang on, lemme just...
[She leans down a little closer and the image starts to slowly rotate back around until it's finally at least close to the right way around. Give or take a few degrees to one side.]
There!
[She flashes a big grin at the camera and gives a little wave with her fingers.]
Heya, girls! [That feels weird, but she's trying it out. Better than saying 'guys' all the time in this place, maybe?] I've been living here for a while now... it's got a neat little bar on the first floor, and an apartment upstairs. So I figured, why not try and open the place?
[At this, the video abruptly turns away and turns a little fuzzy with static. The more observant residents might notice a few glimpses of the bar or tables with upside-down chairs stacked on top. Something quite reminiscent of this place, though it's not exact.
When the image stabilizes, it shows the front of the building. Again, something like the pub in this town (left center), but spaced between other storefronts rather than crowded into a small residential zone. As the image pans around a bit, Laguna's voice continues.]
Here it is! ... Haven't thought of a name yet, but if anyone wants to come by and visit, I could use the help figuring out what all these bottles are.
[Suddenly, static overtakes the video. It's obvious she's not quite done talking yet, but whatever she's saying isn't quite getting through. And then the feed abruptly stops.
The video drain on these Steamgear batteries is a bitch. Fortunately, there's a charge station not far from Laguna's new home, so it won't take long for her to reply. She just probably won't be using video again.]

[Truly, her logic is flawless.]
[audio]
[audio]
... You think someone might've poisoned the booze?
[audio]
[audio]
[Then again, being one of few women in the military back home, she's learned to be a little more cautious in this area than... well, pretty much the rest of her life. Never trust a drink from a complete stranger, and all.]
... Guess we shouldn't touch anything without a label, though. Maybe have one of those scientists take a look to make sure it's all safe?
[Laguna, none of them are chemists!]
[audio]
[... Sure! Makes sense for Alice!]
[audio]
[Beat...]
... But just the grownups! I dunno if I've got anything safe for kids here yet.
[She... kind of assumes Alice is one of the few underage girls in this place. Her mothering instinct is strong, okay?]
[audio]
[Too bad that Alice is actually one of the older ones. But nobody would guess that.]
[audio]
That's good... I'd hate to think Veloxia was stealin' kids from their homes.
[audio]
[audio]
[For a moment, Laguna almost lets herself stop to think about all the things she left behind. ... Almost. The curse of eternal optimism is deluding oneself into believing things aren't as bad as they actually are.]
... Anyway, I'm sure it'll be fine! We'll get Veloxia patched up and then she'll get us all back home!
Until then, this isn't a bad place to stay...
[audio]
[Oh, optimism, such a... strange beast.]
[audio]
... Like machines? You just have to make sure everything's put together and be careful of exposed wires and stuff. Piece of cake!
[... Yeah. She can do the grunt work, but don't expect her to do the figuring out of what's wrong.]
[audio]
[Keeping 'hotshots' away from sensitive matters seems ideal to Alice.]
[audio]
[See? She's optimistic, but not stupid! ... Most of the time.]
[audio]
[audio]
Kinda makes you wonder about Veloxia, doesn't it? If she knows anything about any of us before bringing us here?
[audio]
It would be far easier to say no, and sometimes... the answer actually is the easiest one.
[Audio]
I can't get drunk, I could test the bottles for you.
[Audio]
There's an amused lilt to Laguna's voice as she answers.]
Can't get drunk? Have you ever tried?
[She doesn't laugh, but she smiles to herself at the little almost-joke. She's not really a heavy drinker herself, but she's had a few wild nights. She blames Kiros.]
Really, you can come over anytime, Genesis. Maybe I'll even show you around the place?
[Audio]
I've never tried to intentionally get drunk, no but it's not like I've never gone out for a drink. I've just never even gotten a buzz before.
Sure, your place looks nice. We could always use a bar in a place like this.
[Audio]
They're all the same age, though...]Need any help sneaking out?
[Yeah, she's not going to pass up the chance to tease Genesis a little about what she assumes is her protective roommate.]
[Audio]
What? No!
[Huff huff! She could sneak out on her own, thank you!]
[Audio]
Then you should come on over! I won't tell her if you won't.
[Does Laguna even know for sure who Genesis would be possibly sneaking around on?! ... Maybe not, but she definitely knows it's a woman, in this place. And Sephiroth would be a good guess, given what little she knows of the two.]
[Audio --> Action]
Okay, okay, just give me a few minutes.
[Probably not, but it isn't hard to guess, no. Still, Genesis does manage to sneak away and towards the bar. Knocking on the door when she arrives.]
[audio]
I could help you out. Where is it? Gold North? [ She's getting used to the way the city's split up, but it still feels weird. It's too like the way Sternbild is split up. ]
[audio]
[Great place for a pub with a built-in apartment, right?]
[audio]
[ So what if Bunny's trolling Blue North. So what. ]
[audio]
[She's actually really excited at the idea of meeting some new people this way! ... So much she forgot introductions. But hey, those can wait until they meet face-to-face?]
